I had been using Maya for quite some time to build my polygons. Then I started exporting them in .obj format to Lightwave. Maya didn't want to show my textures after I added them in the hypershade editor, but I seem to be making better progress with Lightwave in that area. Private message me over the board sometime if you'd like to "shoot the bull" about this stuff. Good luck!

I sound like I make some kind of profit by pimping this link all the time but if you need help with LightWave, www.simplylightwave.com has some great free tutorials.

The not-so free ones are better but only because they have more parts.
