Looking so great.

The Happy Friar@Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2005 2:37 am :
quake 4 or doom 3? Just curious (Q4 may get a motw review when it's released... :) )

Need a lifebar? ;)

SyPHer_@Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2005 5:26 am :
That looks bloody brilliant. Only thing that seems a bit out of place is the lack of purple ambience on the first shot from the skybox.

robenestobenz@Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:20 am :
Looks really great. Always loved Q1's rustic style - when I very first heard Q4 was in the works, I was really hoping it would be a sequel to that game rather than Q2.

Agree with sypher's comment, but saying that, I have a feeling if you did light it in purple it would look kind of gaudy.

idiom@Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2005 10:49 am :
I really like the lighting. Colourful and moody.

SonicClang@Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2005 12:28 pm :
Hey I've seen that shambler before...

You just couldn't resist using him again could you? He's just too cool for one level isn't he? :D cool man. It's good to see you're making another D3 level.

any relase date? looks fantastic!

Tron@Posted: Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:22 am :
Oh my yes.

I see the axe in the first shot, have you converted all the weapons as well?

/me can't wait for this.

Doom 3. This was started before Quake 4 was released.

Haha, maybe!

No release date. I'm not even close to knowing when this will be done which is why I just showed a little bit to tease with.

Yep. With the help of Obi-Wan and Quaker-X, all Quake 1 weapons and power-ups are already in and working as intended.

Right now, I'm really looking for someone to help with a few monsters.

It may be worth checking if Ogro/Francois-Xavier Delmotte is still on the net and if he'd be willing/able to give you some of his Q1 monster hi-poly meshes and their skins.

I'm on a brighter monitor today, and the shots look even better.

I'll quote this directly from func_msgboard where we have been discussing this map.

I don't have an Doom3world account and won't get one but maybe you want to tell them that Ogro lost his work files unfortunately. I asked him a while ago.

dsm@Posted: Thu Dec 08, 2005 5:23 pm :
Sweet stuff and you've converted the weapons too? Exellent!

I never was a fan of Quake 1 (couldn't stand the low-poly look), but that has only made me all the more interested in seeing what high-poly versions of the original weapons are gonna look like in a new engine.

Just out of curiosity, have you given the guns any "new" animations (that they didn't have in the original, such as reloading/cocking animations)? 'Cause that was one of my beefs with the original Quake

heXum@Posted: Thu Dec 08, 2005 6:33 pm :
I posted another shot since everyone seems interested. Your positive comments keep me motivated to work on it everyday after 8 hours of building something else!

Well damn. If anyone has any other referrals, let me know!

looking spot on there hex! obi wans shambler looks right at home, esepcially with that rocket launcher in his face ;)

photeknix@Posted: Fri Dec 09, 2005 5:11 pm :
wow, that is one of the sweetest things i've ever seen.
very nostalgic and Quake1 feeling, but 10x better looking.
i've been hoping someone would do some sort of Quake1 ports under the D3 engine that truely captured the Quake1 feel, theme, and style. I think its sweet cause Quake1 was my all time favorite game ever (well, besides the mod, Team Fortress). even tho i rarely play it anymore, i still love it.

but... please, please, PLEASE! port it to Quake4!

Tron@Posted: Fri Dec 09, 2005 6:47 pm :
Why on earth would you want a Quake 4 version? The few textures/sounds/models which could be used in this map are in D3, and if most things are being replaced anyway exactly what advantage does Q4 have?
