FluffyCatFood@Posted: Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:54 am    Post subject: .md5 format license: Hi there. Has the .md5 model format been released under some sort of public license? I'm just wondering if .md5 support could legally be added to another game engine that would be used for a commercial product. Is there any sort of official word from ID software regarding this?

Also since I'm here, is there a tool that can convert from collada to .md5?

Thanks Smile

I haven't heard about a collada->md5 converter. But if there are collada importers (with skeleton support) for blender, 3dsmax or maya, that would be a possibility.

I don't think so either. Specially since Carmack is very much against software patents.
