I found this crazy program that looks very promising. It makes seamless animated textures.
http://www.texturemaker.com
I downloaded it and tried it out. The interface is a little overwhelming, kinda like photoshop was when I first started with it.
Of course that probably means the learning curve is steep so I don't think I'm going to play with it much.

I'm thinking if you were to use this in conjunction with photoshop or perhaps paint shop pro, you could make some awesome materials and particle effects.
kat@Posted: Tue Sep 23, 2003 3:34 am : is it me or does that bottom one look like an upsidedown shot of a forest..!?
rich_is_bored@Posted: Tue Sep 23, 2003 3:38 am : Yeah it does doesn't it?

Furaeon@Posted: Tue Sep 23, 2003 4:20 am : Nah, it's extremely easy.. just has a crapload of buttons. Each of the buttons listed (Basic, Bump, etc) is a category of effects.
It's kinda cheesy, but useful for making texture bases. Then again, i've only just started it up, and i haven't clicked on half the stuff in here.
TheCray_nz@Posted: Tue Sep 23, 2003 4:55 am : That looks like it will be excellent for creating subtle overlay textures for use in photoshop. I hope you've posted this at map-center.
mac@Posted: Wed Sep 24, 2003 12:42 am : this a little usefull tool.. cause it does everything seamless in combination with a "normal" painter you can work quite efficient.. and its kinda cheap if i recall right ~40$ or so.. we've used that @work ... nifty tool :) and worth every cent
rich_is_bored@Posted: Fri Sep 26, 2003 3:02 am : I've been fooling around trying out the animation features of this program and I suppose this is where it's real power lies. Look at this!

So sweet! I will be trying this out in game very soon.

BNA!@Posted: Fri Sep 26, 2003 5:04 am : Now that's really nice!
mac@Posted: Fri Sep 26, 2003 1:28 pm : the biggest pro in texture maker is that nearly everything it creates are seamless tiling.. a very simple example
you have a already seamless tiling texture.. now if you want to blur it a bit like say in PS you would get seams.. if you use the blur function in TM you won't
heidinabucket@Posted: Mon Mar 29, 2004 6:38 pm : This is really an excellent tool.

I could save so much time working in this then moving images to Photoshop. I have been mucking about in the demo version for the last two hours or so.

I'm sold.
Me buying it.

Cheers rich_is_bored!

rajkostojadinovic@Posted: Mon Mar 29, 2004 7:15 pm : St | ?
it looks like someone put a glass mesh containing St | on it over the rocky texture... and made it scroll...doesn't look too complicated...you would get the same thing in 3dsmax with a raytracer
heidinabucket@Posted: Mon Mar 29, 2004 7:40 pm : This may well be destined to be a gore spattered wallpaper in a burnt out hotel.
From acorns big bastards may grow!

And can do funky metallic (quakish) stuff in the blink of an eye!

heidinabucket@Posted: Tue Mar 30, 2004 12:24 pm : I am getting seriously impressed with this llittle programme!

This texture took me all of two minutes to do(at higher resolution its damn sweet, lovely bevel and moss effect)in a creative whirl.

uberstonks@Posted: Fri Sep 17, 2004 5:53 pm : What a brilliant program.. Can't wait to try it...
rich_is_bored@Posted: Fri Sep 17, 2004 6:00 pm : It's great. I find myself using it in conjunction with photoshop quite a bit now.
Techx@Posted: Fri Sep 17, 2004 6:03 pm : n1 rich thanks
