Brain Trepaning@Posted: Thu Jun 08, 2006 1:07 am    Post subject: : Ya, there will be a couple of spots where some systems will choke briefly, but I don't have one of those systems and didn't have to consider it. I don't play video games, and can actually list the names of those I have in less than 30 seconds, so I am not familiar with what makes good gameplay. Duck Nukem was created basically for three reasons: To generate some interest in the engine modding scene by keeping it light, to create a repository for my tests from learning how to make custom monsters, and last, and most importantly, to MEET THE DEADLINE I said I would meet (thus, there was time management to consider). I am one man with a bit of spare time, and this is what I was able to get accomplished in the time I allotted for it. I like to work that way. Consider this version of Duck Nukem an alpha, with the full story and layout in place. Now, allow me another 6 months to pretty it up and optimize it. Or allow me a team to do it in a couple of months. It won't happen, but pretend it would. Okay, the humor will still suck, but otherwise...

Anyway, glad to read it brought a couple of "heh"s out of your crusty old self, Zombie13. That's enough to make it all worthwhile. That, and the babes it will get me!

Here's a screenshot from Duck Nukem, for those too intelligent to waste their time downloading my mods:

I use GOD mode and/or GIVE ALL for all my gaming needs!

I have NO idea if this mod can actually be beaten by standard play, as I never had a chance to run through it before the deadline, sorry! I'm going to look into what makes "good game play" now that I have the time. (Any recommended tutorials greatly appreciated)

The mod's really all about the rock and roll anyway! Smile

Episodic content, haha!

(Holy overuse of exclamation marks...)

I haven't have enough time to finish your mod yet, but I like it so far. I had to use GOD mode from the very start. I really don't mind those mapping "mistakes" at all, I think it's part of the style. Anyway, congrats!

Brain Trepaning@Posted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 8:07 pm    Post subject: : I used all kinds of things from all over, but your HUD text display find brought one of the hugest smiles to my face, let me tell you! I bookmarked the page with a huge TEXT!!!!! to make it stand out.

I left the remainder of the HUD items I found in your mod in case anyone was poking around. I didn't use them, just the text display, but they sure are worth people checking out. That HUD text display is awesome, because it'd be really easy to make multi-language patches. Thanks a lot!

ART@Posted: Thu Jun 15, 2006 7:27 pm    Post subject: sp gameplay tips: your ideas are great as always, but yeah, ducknukem is still too "roughed-in" at this stage. It reminds me of 3d animations used for story boarding... quick and loose.

tips? sure. these articles at RUST ar ea good read.

I started reading it, the part about BRUSHES and POLYGONS and ENTITIES, and I have all those things in my maps, but they still suck. I just don't get it. O well, maybe a bit more reading is still needed. **SIGH**

A great reference point for anyone wanting to mod anything in Doom 3.

Nice 1 Brain!
