I think those abandoned industrial ruin pics with reconquering nature/flora are perfect for the Stalker game, but it would also look cool in doom3, although all those plants would be a bit out of place on mars.

Well, yes and no.
On the one hand I'd love to make a total conversion, but on the other hand I'm currently running out of time.
I've done walkthroughs and visualization work with Lightwave and some demos with Quake3. Doom³ of course would be the perfect game engine to display real world architecture. Since you can use native Lightwave files it won't take long before you'll see some very huge librarys of 3D models for Doom³.
Other than that, I'm just interested in 3D realtime engines and enjoy games

Nice, I searched down this topic only a couple days ago, and i think it definately deserves a sticky. Heres another site to add to the list:
I'll try to take some nice pictures when I happen to be in the area next time, there's loads more of interesting WW2 dated architecture and stuff to be found there.
I'll also try to make some shots of the insides of buildings if they let me in.

Wow. That is a great find. I especially like how this pops out amongst the rest of the pics.
i knew it would be someones favorite
I think those abandoned industrial ruin pics with reconquering nature/flora are perfect for the Stalker game, but it would also look cool in doom3, although all those plants would be a bit out of place on mars.

i guess everybody can use these! BNA!: Do you have anything special in mind to build with the d3 engine?
When i first came to d3world.org i thought, you were "just" a real estate guy, searching for a cheap way to showcase his objects in realtime. btw, i think people would love that!

man, it has been done...i remember there was this guy who had posted in Q3W, he had used q3 to make a walk-through to show the interiors of a house to a customer!!!...

I'll try to take some nice pictures when I happen to be in the area next time, there's loads more of interesting WW2 dated architecture and stuff to be found there.
I'll also try to make some shots of the insides of buildings if they let me in.

This isn't industrial design, but check out these dilapidated buildings and rooms:
This site has some nice inspirations for high-tech/industrial mapdesign and may also be useful for texture artists: (well, it´s not really high-tech....it´s too old for that )
would be nice with some insperation for hell maps if you got that too

...maybe BNA can use these
i guess everybody can use these! BNA!: Do you have anything special in mind to build with the d3 engine?
When i first came to d3world.org i thought, you were "just" a real estate guy, searching for a cheap way to showcase his objects in realtime. btw, i think people would love that!

(well, it´s not really high-tech....it´s too old for that )
omg, that scene is just DYING to be created in doom3
This scene acutally looks like a typical Doom³ scene

I think those abandoned industrial ruin pics with reconquering nature/flora are perfect for the Stalker game, but it would also look cool in doom3, although all those plants would be a bit out of place on mars.

i guess everybody can use these! BNA!: Do you have anything special in mind to build with the d3 engine?
When i first came to d3world.org i thought, you were "just" a real estate guy, searching for a cheap way to showcase his objects in realtime. btw, i think people would love that!

(well, it´s not really high-tech....it´s too old for that )

_________________ Time is the worst place, so to speak, to get lost in _shank@Posted: Mon Nov 03, 2003 4:14 am Post subject: :

man, it has been done...i remember there was this guy who had posted in Q3W, he had used q3 to make a walk-through to show the interiors of a house to a customer!!!... _________________ Plz post only 640x480 ss and add those damn trims to the floor and walls!!!
Other than that, I'm just interested in 3D realtime engines and enjoy games _________________ Staff - The world is yours der_ton@Posted: Sun Jun 27, 2004 5:18 pm Post subject: : Another page with similar pictures, really interesting, and it makes me go exploring these kinds of places myself:

The native LightWave file format - .lwo
So you don't need to convert your LightWave files to any obscure game format before you use them ingame. _________________ Staff - The world is yours Yarik@Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2004 3:20 pm Post subject: : Oh, I knew that already. hey, why don't we make a sticky post for reference pics like the one we have for texture resources? _________________ Time is the worst place, so to speak, to get lost in _shank@Posted: Sat Nov 27, 2004 4:04 am Post subject: : bump...could someone stickfy this topic...i had to search this up for my concept artist friend...would be handy and usefull on the front page _________________ Plz post only 640x480 ss and add those damn trims to the floor and walls!!!
