mcamilo@Posted: Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:18 pm    Post subject: md5 model and animation formats licenses: Hello,

does someone know if the md5 model and animation formats are free? Are they opened code?

Where can I find something about it? (I searched in the IDSoft site but there I only found information about Quake engine licenses).

Can I make a game engine based in the md5 formats? Can I make games based in the md5 formats? Do I have to pay something to IDsoft?

Can I modify the md5 format to create a new format based on it?

Sorry by the poor english and silly questions. But it is really very important to me to know about it.

Thank you all.

I'm interested about these questions, too. Maybe it helps to know what was the deal with other file formats, like the ones in the Q3 engine, at the time the Q3 source wasn't released? The legal situation should be similar I assume.
