It looks quite intriguing in a Hexeny sort of way. What are peoples' thoughts?

I liked the feel of the interface and the controls were pretty intuitive, but the game crashed too often for it to be impressive. Definitely looked good and had fun physics being a product of the HL2 engine, but it didn't woo me enough to try the full game.

Regulator@Posted: Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:16 am : The game is good. Lots of bugs though [v1.0] and requires high end pc on all settings. The gameplay experience is very deep, lots of choices, lots of chases and chopping.

There are lots of different endings also. The game feels kind of rushed like most big titles nowdays.
radix2@Posted: Sun Jan 07, 2007 9:31 am : Thanks people. Also after looking at the DMMM forums, there seem to be a large number of still unresolved problems some 2 months after release.
The demo is fun, but I think I'll give the game a miss - or at least wait a while until the nasty bugs are sorted out. The demo by the way weighs in at about 2.8GB (via steam)!

whitewolf@Posted: Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:10 am : I've played. The control system seemed very unorthodox. Some of the particle effects were really nice, and the depth of field, but otherwise it reminded me of a q3 engine game. Maybe the pc I played it on was just too crap. I liked the fact that when you are in a well and you look up at the sky the game imitates the blinding effect of coming into the light when your eyes are adjusted to the darkness.

Tetzlaff@Posted: Mon Jan 05, 2009 4:01 pm : I played it some time ago and really liked it. It´s like a well balanced cross between RPG and FPS, and it has some really fun mellee combat (unlike most FPSs), with plenty of opportunities to kick your opponents into a chasm, down some stairs or into spikes.
The atmosphere is not as creepy and dark as in Hexen, but it has some really nice gloomy catacombs and ancient underground temple settings. Leveldesign is nice and varied with some exploration opportunities (but relatively linear). It adds a lot that you can approach combat situations differently, by stealthy sneaking, or using traps and other opportunities in the environment to get rid of your opponents.
The overall atmosphere is your typical (a bit generic IMO) medieval inspired fantasy stuff. Your opponents include evil cultists, orks, goblins, spiders, zombies and so on, with some cool challenging fights against big hulking cyclopes.
The story is okay, nothing too special.
If your favourite genre is FPS, but you also play RPGs from time to time, I really can recommend Dark Messiah.

TelMarine@Posted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:50 am : I havnet completed this yet, I have played a few hours of it, but I found the melee combat ultimately to become boring. I found myself wanting a gun to shoot stuff. There are waaaaay too many conveniently placed spiked grates (or whatever you wanna call them) randomly placed near soldiers, it is just a stupid gimmick to get you to kick them into the spikes, which is all you have to do most of the time. It got old quick, but I'll give it another try on this computer, which can run it much better.
