Even since before starting on the Wolfenstein stuff, I started to make this model, a high poly version of it. I got stuck on it and decided to start on the Wolf project. But of course I couldn't just drop it and so after taking some time away from this stuff I finally got it going again and have it working in the game.

Anyway, this is just a little teaser and you can see this guy is just a little camera shy.. :)

It would be great if it could jump and dodge like a Berzerk!

Good work.

could you render an orbiting camera of him or have him on a rotating platform in game, so we can have a good look at him from different angles?

The screens obviously being from within Doom but the animation rendered in Max with high poly displaced model.

EagleFlyfree: Yes, it'll have range attack. Pretty much similar to the Quake Vore. Also thanks for the AI offer, but it's cool, I have it working and I prefer to make this monsters completely by myself.

obihb@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:03 pm :
Thanks, as always I really appreciate the positive comments.

ajm113: The "flying guy" is the Wizard or Scrag from Quake. As you may or may not know these are all old Quake monsters.

ratty redemption: Not really sure what to say about the toes.. hahahaa.. it really wasn't something that came to my attention at all until now. I can see what you mean and maybe I'll come up with a reason.. like hhmmm.. I'm too lazy to change hehee.

Tron: Yeah, the fur.. something that I decided against right in the beginning of making the Shambler. I think just about everyone commented on that, but as it stands, the engine can't do decent fur to my liking, so it's just not in there at all. I'm not a fan of the "bump mapped" fur, it looks too much like clay.

As for the fiend, I'm sure they have eyes, or rather what looks like eyes to me anyway. If they didn't.. then.. they do now.. :)

ratty redemption@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:08 pm :
obihb, hehe fair enough ;)

I also agree with leaving fur out until the engine can do it convincing enough.

Go play the Hell map in Doom 3 - there's a part where it's got a bunch of burnt, skeletal zombies - there's your Quake zombies. That's basically what Quake's zombies look like in a modern 3d engine. :D

Oooh, a new Scrag (or Wizard)! /Me likes a lot

The Shambler I don't really dig entirely (although it's a great model you've done there). The original had what looked like bloody hoofs, and its muscles weren't as pronounced. I think I read in an interview with John Romero that the Shambler was supposed to have fur or something.

EagleFlyfree: Yes, it'll have range attack. Pretty much similar to the Quake Vore. Also thanks for the AI offer, but it's cool, I have it working and I prefer to make this monsters completely by myself.

that's great news obihb, I quite liked your original shambler but know it looks dated compared to your recent skills.

ratty redemption@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 7:28 am :
stunning work obihb, although personally I think the new shambler's toenails look like they are raised up too much from the rest of his toes, ie those bump shadows around his toenails look too strong to me.

6th Venom@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 2:34 pm :
I can already see a Q1 medieval map into the D3 engine... awesome!
Damn! Where are my famous zombies? :D

Tron@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 2:38 pm :
That's really cool apart from the fact the Shambler is meant to be furry and fiends don't have eyes. :)

obihb@Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:03 pm :

I also agree with leaving fur out until the engine can do it convincing enough.

dsm@Posted: Fri Jan 26, 2007 8:39 pm :
6th Venom wrote:

Go play the Hell map in Doom 3 - there's a part where it's got a bunch of burnt, skeletal zombies - there's your Quake zombies. That's basically what Quake's zombies look like in a modern 3d engine. :D

Oooh, a new Scrag (or Wizard)! /Me likes a lot

The Shambler I don't really dig entirely (although it's a great model you've done there). The original had what looked like bloody hoofs, and its muscles weren't as pronounced. I think I read in an interview with John Romero that the Shambler was supposed to have fur or something.

agreed, it very cool looking, but the teaser clip is far to short ;)

could you render an orbiting camera of him or have him on a rotating platform in game, so we can have a good look at him from different angles?

The screens obviously being from within Doom but the animation rendered in Max with high poly displaced model.

EagleFlyfree: Yes, it'll have range attack. Pretty much similar to the Quake Vore. Also thanks for the AI offer, but it's cool, I have it working and I prefer to make this monsters completely by myself.

Yes, the arms clip for 1 frame on each side. This won't happen for any of the final stuff for sure.

whatthe: I am gonna release all the monsters I make yes. This includes a brand new Shambler, much updated model and some updated animation and much more difficult to fight. The Demon, The Wizard and of course this Vore. They will be released with heXum's mod Shambler's Castle.

that's great news obihb, I quite liked your original shambler but know it looks dated compared to your recent skills.

do you and hexum have a website for his mod?

Even since before starting on the Wolfenstein stuff, I started to make this model, a high poly version of it. I got stuck on it and decided to start on the Wolf project. But of course I couldn't just drop it and so after taking some time away from this stuff I finally got it going again and have it working in the game.

Anyway, this is just a little teaser and you can see this guy is just a little camera shy.. :)

Can you post more screens please?

It just look as good as your shambler! :D

Does it have a range attack too?
It would be great if it could jump and dodge like a Berzerk!

However count on me for IA,if you need something new.

Now that's a cool Vore. It looks updated and at the same time incredibly faithful to the original from what I can tell.

Good work.

ratty redemption@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 9:41 pm :
agreed, it very cool looking, but the teaser clip is far to short ;)

could you render an orbiting camera of him or have him on a rotating platform in game, so we can have a good look at him from different angles?

Just for that, here's some more...

However count on me for IA,if you need something new.

Good work.

agreed, it very cool looking, but the teaser clip is far to short ;)

could you render an orbiting camera of him or have him on a rotating platform in game, so we can have a good look at him from different angles?

EagleFlyfree: Yes, it'll have range attack. Pretty much similar to the Quake Vore. Also thanks for the AI offer, but it's cool, I have it working and I prefer to make this monsters completely by myself.

You're not kidding that's a small teaser!

After I paused the video it looks interesting, would love to see more good monsters ingame. :)

klonsemann@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 10:28 am :
Hey this looks great !

What about having a nice Coop Map with this monster ?

6th Venom@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 11:14 am :
It's a Q1 monster right?
Can you post more screens please?

It just look as good as your shambler! :D

EagleFlyfree@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 11:22 am :
Wow 8)
Does it have a range attack too?
It would be great if it could jump and dodge like a Berzerk!

However count on me for IA,if you need something new.

dsm@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:43 pm :
Now that's a cool Vore. It looks updated and at the same time incredibly faithful to the original from what I can tell.

Good work.

ratty redemption@Posted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 9:41 pm :
agreed, it very cool looking, but the teaser clip is far to short ;)

could you render an orbiting camera of him or have him on a rotating platform in game, so we can have a good look at him from different angles?

heXum@Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 7:09 am :
Badass... as usual. ;)

obihb@Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 10:57 am :
Cool, thanks for all the positive comments.

Just for that, here's some more...

6th Venom@Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 11:40 am :
WoW! :D
(sorry, but aren't arms & legs intersect during the walk anim?)

efx@Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 1:51 pm :

ratty redemption@Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 11:18 pm :
obihb, that looping walk cycle is very cool so thanks for letting us see that :)

although I agree with 6th Venom that it looks like his arms are clipping his legs but I'm sure you can fix that.

whatthe@Posted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 3:03 am :
That model looks amazing, are you going to release it.

obihb@Posted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 8:47 am :
Thanks..

They will be released with heXum's mod Shambler's Castle.

that's great news obihb, I quite liked your original shambler but know it looks dated compared to your recent skills.

do you and hexum have a website for his mod?

obihb@Posted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 9:56 am :
I'll say that I don't "officially" work on this mod. I make some monsters and he ends up using them.. :) Even without this mod I'd still make them, accept the mod provides me with a nice way to get them released in a nice package.

This is his current site..

ajm113: The "flying guy" is the Wizard or Scrag from Quake.

Smile

Go play the Hell map in Doom 3 - there's a part where it's got a bunch of burnt, skeletal zombies - there's your Quake zombies. That's basically what Quake's zombies look like in a modern 3d engine. Very Happy
