This is a test scene I was working on, while trying out different approaches in getting Nature Environments rendered at a decent speed for the GroundZero project......

I am quite happy the way it runs now, especially when you take into consideration that no lod-system is used yet.... Once applied, this could once more dramatically increase the rendering performance.......

looks nice, you always seem to capture an atmosphere with your work. Is there some bloom in there?
just a few crits though;

its hard to tell if they are or not because of the small screens but I think the trees would look better structurely if the floating leaves were connected to the rest of the tree, could you post some bigger screens?

I think the bottom of the grass texture is too dark for the colour of the ground making them stand out too much and not realy blend in with the whole picture

I look forward to see another update, it looks good :)

I just released a streamable version of the movie so just click below to watch the stream with the windows media player....

Stream: ftp://ftp.planet-multiplayer.de/sites/d ... cene_1.mpg

***UPDATE***

Now this approach applied to the actual GroundZero setup ...to watch the movie click on the link below....

And by the way..... I don't think the pictures really do the scene justice...

Impressive, what's the approach you are using here for creating this scene?

mikebart@Posted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:44 pm :
wow, that is impressive. I like what you've done with the lights making them brighten and darken like that, are you using the LOD system in the video?

Oneofthe8devilz@Posted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 11:15 pm :
Just got my hands on your tree mike .. and I must say it's really a fine peace of art... Originally I also wanted to create alphamapped branches for my trees but it was my first tree ever made and I had trouble getting it exactly the way I wanted.... But as seen on the screens and in the video it clearely pays out to put effort inside a tree model.....
Again ... very nice job man....

I hope you can improve on it, im really not too cluey about shaders and I think it might need a bit of work in that department.

Is there some bloom in there?
just a few crits though;

its hard to tell if they are or not because of the small screens but I think the trees would look better structurely if the floating leaves were connected to the rest of the tree, could you post some bigger screens?

I think the bottom of the grass texture is too dark for the colour of the ground making them stand out too much and not realy blend in with the whole picture

I look forward to see another update, it looks good :)

I just released a streamable version of the movie so just click below to watch the stream with the windows media player....

Stream: ftp://ftp.planet-multiplayer.de/sites/d ... cene_1.mpg

***UPDATE***

Now this approach applied to the actual GroundZero setup ...to watch the movie click on the link below....

And by the way..... I don't think the pictures really do the scene justice...

mikebart@Posted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:44 pm :
wow, that is impressive. I like what you've done with the lights making them brighten and darken like that, are you using the LOD system in the video?

Just got my hands on your tree mike .. and I must say it's really a fine peace of art... Originally I also wanted to create alphamapped branches for my trees but it was my first tree ever made and I had trouble getting it exactly the way I wanted.... But as seen on the screens and in the video it clearely pays out to put effort inside a tree model.....
Again ... very nice job man....

I hope you can improve on it, im really not too cluey about shaders and I think it might need a bit of work in that department.

Awesome, thanks for putting it in :D you've made my day.
I hope you can improve on it, im really not too cluey about shaders and I think it might need a bit of work in that department.
