I thought der_ton's md5 exporter for Blender exports everything to md5.. Like his general md5 exporter for MAX.
But yesterday I was exporting a character who has cloth (that is mesh animated with softbody dynamics) and I end up not having that mesh at all in my final md5 files.
What's the problem? Where to dig? How to solve it?
Thanks in advance.

Soft bodies to my knowledge are not supported by any game engine.

kat@Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 8:49 pm :
Yes it won't export that unless you have bones associated with the movement, they're the things that the exporter and game 'locks' on to. I don't think we have a general exporter for Blender otherwise it'd proably work by adding a bone for each vertex (which ends up being a lot!).

der_ton@Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 11:01 pm :
Yes there is no general md5 exporter for blender. Technically it should be possible to write one that works just like the one for 3dsmax (generating a bone for every animated vertex), but I haven't given it much thought yet. Somebody else was also thinking about writing this for blender, I don't recall who it was, it was mentioned in a thread roughly about a year ago.

ic.. I guess I am gonna have to forget about softbody dynamics ;)

Is it possible to apply ragdoll physics to a living character?

der_ton@Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 9:55 am :
No, the ragdoll physics are applied only after death.
