Ladies and Gentlemen,

that's our official thread regarding bugs, issues, tweaks, troubleshooting...

I'm playing on a Intel E6700 system, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb, Vista Ultimate, onboard sound, Samsung 24 inch full HD monitors.
The game runs very smooth in 1600 resolution with everything maxed out (exception - anti aliasing). So far no hickup, crash or whatever problem occurred.

So feel free to post your problems and we'll move them all up as Questions to the sticky with Answeres coming hopefully as fast as usual.

Ok I suck at online gaming, but that's really annoying me: one second, i launch the game, connect to a server, and play 2 hours straight.. Then I quit the game, restart my pc, launch the game, scan for servers, and when I click to join one of them, the small pop up saying "connecting to IP" will continue at libitum. I can stare ten minutes in front of the windows saying "connecting to" .. I tried EVERY server available in the list, it's a pain in the a$$...

ET:QW 4 Newbies, a nice guide to the whole game.

There is some info on tweaking as well: ET:QW 4 Newbies: Tweaking.

Another tip:
If you get the dreaded "Server full" error, (supposedly fixed in a new beta patch) try again for a few times. If you still get the error, it sometimes helps to refresh the complete server list.

well, i've posted about it before, but a workaround would be great-

1)everytime i see and icarus in the sewer, i crash

2)render doesn't update when looking through visportals (hud does, movement does)

Runs fine on my P4 3ghz, 1gb ram, 6800GT.

Though I run it 1280x780 with everything off/rammed into the bottom so it looks basically like BF2, but it's the fun that matters :).

same rig, but i run at 800x600 with everything turned up. :D

i average only ~40fps though.

Runs great @ 1280X1024 AF @ 10 everything else maxxed out with all shadows and soft particles but no AA.

40-70FPS (using Timing Method 1)
60-80 (using Timing Method 0 but alot of jerking)
30-45 (using timing method 2)

Rig is AMD X2 4400, 8800 GTX 768, 2GB DDR, SATA II HD.

Anybody have trouble adjusting mouse sensitivity from within the game? I've been using the slider in the options menu but it doesn't seem to do much of anything if it does anything at all.

I haven't tried setting the corresponding CVar directly yet but it appears that's what I'll have to do.

EDIT: Yeah. That appears to do the trick. For those curious the CVar is called "sensitivity". I set mine around 13. The default is 5.

Uhm, I set mine in the menu to 12, which worked fine, and that's just three quarters up the slider.

I've been running the beta on my macbookpro, and the beta 2 wouldn't start (lacking some feature)

They don't release new official drivers for bootcamp, but I installed the omega drivers, and it's been working great so far.

Question: can the 162.18 forceware improves the fps? (still using 93.71 here)...

goliathvt@Posted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 3:47 pm :
I highly recommend going beyond the 162's and trying the beta drivers intended for the Bioshock release (163.44). Many (myself included) use those with no problems and they seem to offer great ETQW performance. You can get to the Beta drivers from the main drivers page, using a text link "BETA Drivers" found above the web form where you normally select Graphics Driver -> Vid Card Series -> Operating System.

I'm running it on the following rig: 2.6 dual core processor, dual EAH2900XTs, 4 Gigs of DDR3 ram. I'm running the game at 1680X1050 with the settings maxed out (Minus Anti Aliasing, at this res it all looks pretty damn smooth anyhow).

The only problem I've encountered is when I'm in crossfire mode, all vehicles and enemies will flicker constantly. Once I turn off crossfire mode the problem stops, so I'm stuck using only one of my two cards :/

Game runs great despite this though.

2)render doesn't update when looking through visportals (hud does, movement does)

macbookpro
fresh xp
core 2 duo 2.3ghz
2gb ram
256mb ati x1600

Runs fine on my P4 3ghz, 1gb ram, 6800GT.

Though I run it 1280x780 with everything off/rammed into the bottom so it looks basically like BF2, but it's the fun that matters :).

The default is 5.

and for some reason they cap it out in the menu at 8.

Uhm, I set mine in the menu to 12, which worked fine, and that's just three quarters up the slider.

Here is an autoexec for those with low specs
Code:
seta com_unlockFPS "1"
seta com_unlock_timingMethod "0"
seta com_gpuSpec "0"
seta com_machineSpec "0"
seta r_megaTilesPerSecond "0"
seta r_megaFadeTime "99999"
seta r_megaStreamBlocks "1"
seta r_detailFade "99999"
seta r_detailTexture "0"
seta r_shaderSkipSpecCubeMaps "1"
seta r_normalizeNormalMaps "0"
seta r_shaderQuality "2"
seta r_useAlphaToCoverage "0"
seta r_skipDepthAmbient "1"
seta r_shadows "0"
seta r_shadowPolygonFactor "0"
seta r_shadowPolygonOffset "0"
seta r_useDitherMask "1"
seta r_megaDrawMethod "3"
seta r_softParticles "0"
seta r_skipStuff "1"
seta r_MD5LodScale "0"
seta image_specularPicMip "-4"
seta image_diffusePicMip "-4"
seta image_bumpPicMip "-4"
seta image_detailPower "0"
seta image_ignoreHighQuality "1"
seta image_roundDown "1"
seta image_lodbias "2"
seta image_anisotropy "0"
seta r_renderProgramLodDistance "0"
seta g_showplayershadow "0"
seta g_decals "0"
seta pm_bobroll "0"

seta pm_bobup "0"
seta pm_runroll "0"
seta pm_runpitch "0"
seta pm_runbob "0"
seta pm_walkbob "0"
seta g_cheapDecalsMaxDistance "0"

Also g_showhud "0" is said to increase FPS drastically, but you lose all onscreen info

I've been running the beta on my macbookpro, and the beta 2 wouldn't start (lacking some feature)

They don't release new official drivers for bootcamp, but I installed the omega drivers, and it's been working great so far.

zioburosky@Posted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 2:43 pm :

My friend got this message when he tried to start up the demo:

Code:

Any ideas? I'm not into the error trouble shooting stuff, so maybe someone here can help.

His video driver does not support the necessary features. An update is in order.
