ok i just cant figure this out... I install D3base on new windows xp installation with updated drivers... patch the game... run it... and play on ultimate grfx settings without any problems... until i get to the first autosave spot and press escape to do whatever anyone would want to do when they press escape... the first time it was cause i thought my framerates were a little too low and wanted to change the settings... anyway... as soon as i press escape (and only after either quicksaving or autosaving) the game throws up a general windows crash error. anytime i try to run the game after that... it will throw up the same general crash error upon initializing the menu. it never gets past that point unless i uninstall... delete all related folders... and reinstall.

ok weird but.... i uninstalled and reinstalled again, updated... blah blah... and ran the game with the consol log runnin... left all the defaults up... which are set for high quality..not ultrahigh.

went through to the event where all hell breaks loose without any problems. guess my 512mb gfx card cant handle the heat of ultrahigh...

I'm not sure what's going on there other than to say for some reason during your crash it appears to delete "/base/xpkey".

You can probably make a back up of that file and replace it if the problem occurs again. It will save you the trouble of uninstalling/reinstalling anyway.

Would making it "Read Only" in file properties save it from deletion?
