Kristian Joensen@Posted: Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:46 pm :
"Katherine Kang is Carmack's wife isn't she?"

Yes.

"Hasn't she been working for id since shortly before they were married?"

She worked there for a while around 1999/2000 or so(until whenever Marty Stratton was hired, he was hired as her replacement when she left, then he moved onto to his new Executive Producer role, what ever that consists of, and Steve Nix was hired to replace him) and then went off and founded Fountainhead Entertainment. She is now back as the president of id Mobile, which is the recently announced

As far as the OP is concerned, Mike Maynard has been with them for a while(several years AFAIK). "Grayson Wendell" might have been there since last they hired before this round. I am not sure if it was him, but they DID hire an Environment Artist back then. The rest are all new. REALLY Nice find.

Edit:

""Grayson Wendell" might have been there since last they hired before this round."

Yeah that part was correct, but he is a programmer not Environment Artist. Justin Owens is the Environment Artist I was thinking about. Grayson Wendell, Justin Owens, Gloria Kennickell, Scott Neumann and maybe Deven Winters(I am not 100% sure) where added to that page at the same time, before these guys you mention.

Edit2:

As far as Mike Maynard goes look at the answer to question 9) on this interview and note the date on the interview.

Also another new hire at id is "Brett Estabrook [programmer, id mobile]".

well they have id mobile now. Although Carmack said he did want to keep it to 50 people or less (although i guess they have more now, unless he wasn't counting an eventual mobile section). Seems id as you say is getting pretty big compared to how they have been before.

@qwertz123:

Do you expect to be banned for having an opinion of your own? Because with that big chip on your shoulder, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Only you can't fault us for that because your attitude is your problem.

That said, have an opinion. You're entitled to it. Disagree with people. There wouldn't be much point in discussing anything if we all agreed. But please keep it civil. We don't need the drama. It's childish and stupid irrespective of how old and wise you claim to be.

You have three choices.

Not to my knowledge. Carmack said that Kevin Cloud was heading up Doom 4. But I guess that is just a temporary thing, the job ad for the Lead Designer is still on their website. I guess it could end up with Kevin Cloud taking a role one notch higher than the Lead Designer position.

I also think Kevin is temporary.

Hope they will hire a great designer for Doom4.

C'mon - he's the only person who has played rage and Doom 4, so give him credit since he's the only person who can make this judgement.

Damn right. It's too late for Rage but I wish we only get the first interview/screenshot/trailer about Doom 4 six months before the game ships. Of course, knowing id's propensity for verbal incontinence this is very unlikely. :roll:

Kristian Joensen@Posted: Tue Jul 22, 2008 7:30 pm :
Linkedin.com. if you search for "id software" in the company field you get a link on top of the search results that contains a profile of the company. One of the fields their is called "New Hires". That is where this info is from. Notice you have to search for "id software" not "id Software" or anything like that.

Is the reason they stopped the xtest.exe releases is because of how big the games are now? Even if they stripped the content? Or possibly they don't want people to keep playing the test versions well after the game is released? Whatever the reasons, it would be cool to have that again.

I conclude your attitude doesn't suit the board well.

@qwertz123:

You have three choices.

if it allows them to pump out quality games at a faster pace, then i don't care if they have 500 people. 4 to 5 years is too long to wait!

Jeff Zaring?? I remember him from Treyarch. I met him during my interview last year. Heh, he was doing some design discussion about CoD5 when I was introduced to him.
