an Enemy Territory: Quake Wars mod.

About Gangs4Life...
Gangs4Life (G4L) is a total conversion mod for Splash Damage's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, which uses the Doom 3 Engine. G4L immerses the player in an intense online never seen fun experience. Set on the 1950’s ( though it is totally fictional ) , Gangs4Life simulates a war between two special gangs that encourages the use of teamwork and strategy to destroy the enemy.

Brief History
Gangs4Life is a fictional total conversion mod which is based upon the 1950’s – 60’s era. The Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States played out through the entire decade. Due to the conservative norms of the era and the sometimes violent suppression of social movements, seeds of rebellion grew and were manifested through Rock and Roll, movies emphasizing rebelliousness, expansion of the Civil Rights Movement. Europe continued to be divided into free and Soviet bloc countries. The geographical point of this division came to be called the Iron Curtain. The bandas and the mafia saw a good opportunity of this split between East and West-Europe so they started a revolution. The bandas is a gang who doesn’t have any traditions, they are not against drugs, the mafia does and that’s why they also dislike the bandas. The Mafia doesn’t want that their traditions disappear and that’s why they also start an American mafia to expand. You will be able to choose between these gangs, good work and teamwork will decide who will win.
Basic Features...


Free total conversion , only requires Enemy Territory:Quake Wars

Experience points
You will earn points when completing objectives.

Some “realism” features
iron sights, free aim, stamina …

Motorbikes, bikes and Helicopters
Lots of more vehicles then the original game has.

Drive-by
The ability to shoot through windows to enemies.

Live feed camera
You will see a team member’s camera on the screen.

Speciality for each class
Each class will have it’s own special feature which makes the classes so

Global stats
When we’re allowed to do stats, stats will be also viewable on a webpage.
Sort of the same as ET:QW stats but then for this mod.

We are currently still looking for the following people:

Programmers:

Requirements: C++, good knowledge of the ET:QW / Idtech4 engine

Level designers:

Requirements: Have the ability to make a map in WorldEdit and knowledge of SDK,
previous map examples would be good.

Modellers

Requirements: Be able to produce low and high poly models. UVW Mapping and texturing is a plus.

Texture artist

Requirements: Be able to make skins for models and to produce textures.

Not sure if this was intentional. But G4L read as "leet speak" ends up "Gal" (Girl).

Another thing, funny how the Thompson makes a come back in Enemy Territory. :p

Good luck with this. Think you might benefit from having a bit more media ready than one and a half game model.

On a serious note, this sounds like a really cool idea for a mod, though a lot of work. I could perhaps help out with some basic character modeling resources, since I promised myself I'd make the resources available to anyone, especially those using id Software technology. It may be hard to pick apart the original ET:QWs assets to make 1950s-style characters from.
