I just rented this movie There Will Be Blood, although I thought it was a very good film I am left with quite a few questions I can't seem to resolve. To anyone who has seen the film: Were the Sunday family brothers Paul and Eli actually the same person? I just get that feeling that somehow Eli is one sick individual and that Paul might just be one of his alternate personalities. Notice how no one in his family ever even mentions his brother? I just wanted to see what anyone else thought, if there might be something there...or the conspiracy nut in me is just working wayyy too hard. thanks.

The movie lead me to believe they were different people.

Hmmm, i just know "let there be chaos" - what is the german dvd title of "there will be blood" ?

I already got "martinee" with John Goodman & "nero" from the same director who made "dellamorte dellabore" on my must see list - would like to add more nice stuff. As allways. :)

The movie was great.

Although ''Atonement'' and "No country for old man" both are also damn good movie.

at first it feels like the movie isn't really about anything. and then after it ends, the movie makes you ponder the meaning life and humanity. its really good.

That is very odd that someone should mention "No Country For Old Men" because that is another one I rented, that was a good movie as well except I was sad at the end. I also rented "Strange Wilderness" which was funny as heck I tought.

I watched "There will be Blood" again while I was laying down lastnight and all the kids were asleep so I had a chance to really pay good attention, I realized I must have missed out or got distracted from some key dialogue at the end of the movie the first time around. Now I actually feel kind of dumb for making this topic because of it, it does'nt have to be a total waste though everyone can keep on discussing rented movies they liked or what not here, sorry everyone If I wasted your time at all.

I'd like to recommend "Into the wild" too.

The no country for old men book is much better than the movie in my opinion. If you liked the movie, especially the meaning behind it...read the book. It goes way into more depth.

I'm glad to hear that. Reading in my opinion is one of the greatest things ever invented.

I haven't read the book yet, but some in depth articles about the protagonist. It is very interesting how very few things have to go wrong respectively with how little preparation he could have avoided the misery he got himself into.
However no one will ever really know whether he eventually didn't want to end up this way on an unconscious level (wild speculation - don't quote me on that).
The spiritual aspect of the whole undergoing is certainly interesting.
