In q4, isn't it possible to select a part of a demo and capture only that part ?

I can't believe i have to capture a whole demo to extract after the part i need.

help plz :)

If this is a fragmovie, its possible/likely the demo is from q4max... If that is the case, then see the wiki:

http://www.q4max.com/wiki/index.php/Vid ... _a_netdemo

This uses different commands to the ones you're using, as there are q4max specific commands relating to avi'ing netdemos rather than having to go via renderdemos. If you want to do this with the engine-side stuff, I think the answer is "no, its not possible".

why don't you import it into a video editor then cut it there?

Capturing a whole 20 minute demo in high quality takes quite a while and lots of disk space, so if he only wants a 10s portion from the middle of it, it'd be much more efficient to only capture screenshots of that part of the video.

How about just using fraps instead? Play the demo, start recording from the moment you want to record and stop it on time as well. Works perfect for me, in hi-res (1024*768) videos too.
