DO I get an actual ISO or somesuch that I can keep around on disk and install at my leisure, or will I have to hook up to Steam when I want to install one of the programs?

It's through Steam. You'll have to be connected to download. Steam has an offline mode.

You can also "backup" games. It allows for faster re-installs and it can be run from CDs. It saves you from having to download it again, but requires a very quick check with the steam servers. You can play right away unless an update is "needed".

Yeah, it's steam.

It's $35 for 22 games and expansions. Not bad at all.

screw steam. It's the SAME data files as you get on a CD. Except for Quake 2 & 3, all run with the origional EXE's under DOSBOX. The ONLY thing you can't get a GPL engine for (from what I understand) is Keen. So get a custom engine & burn all those + the custom engine to a CD/DVD.

Tell Steam/id to go to heck & you're keeping it YOU way! :D

The thing is, for me anyway, I doubt I would ever actually play the games, but it would be cool to have a DVD or two with all of id's library in one spot, and I would pay $35 for that.
