So, I've been seeing commercials for the new and improved Vista. I've also heard a lot of complaints about Vista and Doom 3 editor not being exactly compatible. I've been considering investing in a newer computer but everything seems to only use the Vista OS these days. Anyone out there have any experience with this new version and D3edit?

Except the fact that I've needed to turn off "Aero" for Doom3 editor, I encounter the same bug as other users

I don't know if it's the same where you live, but here in France, retailers have restarted to sell officially Windows XP.
It's 79,90 € for "Windows XP OEM Family SP3" and 129.90 € for "Windows XP OEM Pro SP3".
Even Dell is selling PC and notebooks with XP.

But if you are really afraid about compatibility, DoomEdit can run under Linux with WINE ;)

Not sure what you mean by "new and improved vista". Vista is vista is vista.

But like Pat says, for d3edit turn off Aero and AA.

Also, if you want to play online and download content you'll need to turn the UAC feature off (oh, the irony!).

Are you talking about the "Mojave" commercials? That's just morons getting a guided tour of plain old Vista and being told it's new.

I was refering to the "Movave Project" commercials. Anyway, thanks for the info.

wife's laptop has vista. I disabled all the new crap that is "better" then XP & 2k & make it look & act like 2K. Except for some things that can't be changed. Turned off all the security, etc. D3 editor runs fine (besides all the normal crap that happens with the editor!).

Question for you guys who turn off Aero:

Do you turn it off manually each time you used Doom edit or do you allow the game to do so?

I have a seperate shortcut with "Disable desktop composition" on the "Compatibility" tab for running the editor.

OK cool, that's what I have to. I was gonna say, for anyone who manually disables each time they run the editor, that must get annoying.
