Sarah Palin has hit strike four when asked what she thinks the VP's job might be.

(Hint: She's terribly wrong. Again.)

"Questions from the Third Grade: Brandon: What does the VP do?"

Palin: A vice president has a really great job because not only are they there to support the President's agenda, they're like the team member, the teammate to that president. But also, they're in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to, they can really get in there with the Senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom and it's a great job, and I look forward to havin' that job."

So, with two weeks to go, Sarah Palin is unable to answer a 3rd grader's question about what the VP does. She's been asked at least 4 times on the campaign trail and still can't get it right. She still thinks the VP slot has powers it does not, she still thinks it gives her a right to meddle in the Senate. She still thinks it has some sort of "other duties as assigned by the president" powers and thinks it has the power to "oversee the Senate."

Here's what the VP's role really is, according to the Constitution of the United States:

The Constitution, Article 1, Section 3 states:

Quote:
The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.

Article 2, Section 1 states:

Quote:
In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President...

The 20th Amendment references the VP, too:

Quote:
The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January...

And finally, the 25th Amendment:

Quote:
In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Wow... how is this woman qualified, at all, to be VP? How was McCain's judgment sound when he picked her as his running mate?

Perfectly sound. She scores in the votes from the Wal-Mart Moms (as they're called this term), fishes for votes in the Hillary Clinton camp, spends less than 5 grand on make-up and hairstylists and less than 150k on campaign clothing which subsequently will get transferred as wealth to the needy (to add silly points).

I guess it's getting old, but Sarah Palin was a purely strategic pick, not primarily a qualification pick for her past experience running high offices. If I'd be John McCain I'd probably had done the same or similar.

Drill Baby Drill will bring change we can believe in!

Scandals aside, I'd like to at least believe the VP-elect has read their intended job description... since, you know... it's in the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. I wonder if she's even read the document... her talk about her supposed role as VP suggests she has not.
