The wait is nearly over! In an interview on GamesIndustry.biz, Bethesda European's managing director Sean Brennan confirms that Splash Damage's latest project will be unveiled at next month's E3 show in Los Angeles. Sean also confirms a few other tidbits (yes, it's a first person shooter) and goes as far as calling the thing a "genre-breaker" (in a good way, mind you). Check out the interview for all of Sean's comments and stay tuned for much more to come in early June!

Can't wait.

Very interested to see what engine they're going to end up using. I'd love to see this being the first idtech5 license, but something tells me it won't be. Which would be too bad, because that would be incredible for a Fallout game.

Why don't I think they're going to be a licensee? No hard facts, but if they're not, that means that one of 3 idtech4 licensees decided not to re-up, and the premier megatexture user opted out.

In any case, even if it's not Fallout or idtech5 related, I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. They've got a lot of talented people and it'd be cool to see them doing an original IP.

I didn't think think they were a licensee; we're they a sub-contractor for ETQW?

parsonsbear@Posted: Wed May 27, 2009 9:49 am :
True, not sure if you could really call em a 'licensee', but they were the primary developer. Would that make Human Head the only real idtech4 licensee?

They are using idtech, but whether it is 4 or 5 that is uncertain. But from a interview Pual wedgewood mentioned something about cross platform stability of their next game, which is one of the primary point of idtech5.So my heart is telling me its idtech 5.

w00t! Id tech 5... wait, I need to upgrade :arrow::arrow::shock:

parsonsbear@Posted: Thu May 28, 2009 12:30 am :
What's your source on their use of idtech4/5 for the new one? It'd be pretty hard to imagine continuing use of 4, unless 5 was just silly expensive.

aaa111@Posted: Thu May 28, 2009 7:11 am :
^^From thier job page, where they are seeking people who have idtech knowledge.

PytoX@Posted: Thu May 28, 2009 3:04 pm :
It will be on the pre-E3 show tonight. :D

Yeah, I'll agree with that. Big disappointment. They could've just said, 'our game's called Brink' and saved me the download.

Mordenkainen@Posted: Sun Jun 07, 2009 3:14 am :
I was disappointed by the teaser trailer (it's a teaser FOR a teaser heh), but the four screenshots look nice, the airport one especially. However, it's not using id Tech 5, it's a heavily modified ETQW engine with a new renderer (as you can tell from the screenshots. I knew one of our regular (and respected) members at B3D had been up at SD for some time but only now it has been revealed he's lead programmer for Brink.

Snowy@Posted: Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:34 am :
Trailer was terrible, but at least it was something. Seems like a post-apocalyptic world scenario. If it's still running on id Tech 4, I just hope they've figured out a way to make animations go at more than 30fps. While I didn't think 30fps animations in Quake Wars was too bad, I know a lot of people did.

Mordenkainen@Posted: Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:56 pm :
Don't know if this was known already but Bethesda says brink is a coming next year. (the article is about the id-bethesda merger/sell/whatever).

Kristus@Posted: Fri Aug 14, 2009 5:22 am :
There'll be a demo of Brink at QCon. Goliath even used the word "playable" when he talked about it on Quakelive.TV

PytoX@Posted: Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:55 pm :
Here's footage:

no gameplay though :(

Kristus@Posted: Sat Aug 15, 2009 2:06 pm :
Yeah I saw on QL.TV yesterday that they weren't allowed to film the interesting bits.

Sebultura@Posted: Sat Aug 15, 2009 3:27 pm :
Yeah and that's too bad, considering the great vids about the characters & the fact they named it "first public demo" :|

Anyway moderator/admin dudes: is there any plan to create a Brink section in the forums ?

Sadly, these are no longer available thanks to Zenimax claiming the copyright.

I really hoped to get some new info about Brink these days.
