Could somebody please tell me how i can open the editFX window, I've tried typing it into the console on the Quake4 Editor and through the console in game, the command appears to do nothing on my system. Would be grateful if somebody could tell me what im doing wrong or point me to a working tutorial as most links appear to be dead now

Thanks

Methinks you need to be within a map ready to have FX edited. If you try to run it from the main menu, or Radiant console, it may not know exactly what map you want loaded with it to edit.

be in a map (I made a box map), make the game a window & then type editFX. I'd bind a key to it. Then you can use the editFX stuff! :D

Can you believe we didn't have an article on the wiki for that one? :)

Doesn't seem to be working for me. If I have the editor up and playing a level after F2, bringing the console down and typing 'editFX' (without apostrophes of course). Nor being merely in the editor, and going to its console and typing, seems to work.

Though I am having all around trouble with the fx in general. I've seen how idnet has the fx walkthrough, and they also mention how to place fx in a level using the entity editor but that doesn't seem to work for me either. They're entity editor is functional in their pic, while mine is all grayed out but the 'new' button which, upon clicking, closes the whole quake4 executable (any editor, game, etc...) and leaves me on desktop.

In general, how does one go about placing an effect in a quake4 map? I've tried using func_fx and copied and pasted dir/effect.fx in its entity class editor (in the map maker), but I'm blind and what little I've done doesn't seem to work.
