Being to the bones a pure multiplayer mod developer, after 5 years of spending an amazing time with idtech4 and its community, SPS decides to perform a technology transition. Therefore we think that it is about time to release the source files to all our completed and in progress remaining idtech4 projects.

Being pretty much the first larger idtech4 modproject doing so, we certainly hope to act as an inspiration to other idtech4 mods (cough c1053d c00p cough) to release their source, once they complete work on it or stop development for an indefinite period of time. Since we believe that the true nature of modding is all about community cooperation and technology sharing.

Sources and game assets will be made available for:
5.56mm Full Metal Jacket (Doom3)
D3 DemonWars (Doom3)
eCoop (2.0/3.0) (Doom3)
23rd Century Warfare (ETQW)

Links to the source files will be published as soon as everything has been uploaded to the proper locations.

ok, that's cool & all about you releasing your stuff, but where are you heading? UDK? Unity? Crysis?

Actually that's the way to go - much appreciated!

Keep us updated where you're heading now.

Well the decision to switch to UE3 was made about 1 month ago after I spent some time in the pacific sea with a ping of at least 400 ms to any known game server. This is were I really witnessed the magnitude of difference in network performance between UE3 and idtech4 as illustrated here: http://www.scared-pixel-studios.com/for ... p?f=3&t=74 and being a pure multiplayer mod developer, the decision was just plain logic.

... but that UDK release absolutely comes at a very opportune time since it seems to use a much newer build than UT3 (which I originally targeted). Allowing global softshadowmapping with alpha testing  ....

Couldn't resist to quickly try it out to confirm the global softshadows (have been waiting for years to get my hands on such an SDK as the FFOW team never delivered to its promise to release a working SDK with their game.

Those are being great days for modding ;)

great, you're using the UDK! That means I'll be able to play what you release, and you release awesome stuff.

Is your ETQW mod done then? It's no longer being developed?

I have a good feeling that where I would take 23rd century combat would be a complete opposite of where you'd take it.
