I am having trouble getting some of the original doom 3 decal textures to show up ingame. A texture that works in a base doom3 map will not show up in any of my maps. I am talking specifically about the hell pentagrams and some of the blood textures. I looked at the original maps and see that they used a texture, but when I use it, it doesn't show up in either rendered mode or ingame. Wierd though, that it will show up in the editor. Is there some type of fix for this?

Check the placement of the decal in your map versus the vanilla maps. Some decals are not placed directly against a brush but rather offset by some marginal grid unit.

Hi

As well as the previous suggestion, you could try looking at that decal in the original map and then take a look at any lights near by, some of the materials only show up in game when a light with the correct spectrum is shining on it.

I have never used stuff with the spectrum keywords myself, but they are used a lot in the game.

You can probably find lots of useful info on it by searching this forum.

Hope that helps.

Actually, I've had weird behaviors happen with decals in different maps in Doom 3. Some maps could get black squares and some could not. I never did make any sense of it.

@rich_is_bored Actually, all of my decals are 1 grid unit above any brushes. I think thats how id did theirs, but I'm not sure.

@solarsplace Hmm never thought of that, might have to give it a try. Seems kinda dumb though.

Thanks for all suggestions, I'll post any updates to this problem.
