printz@Posted: Sat Jul 02, 2011 1:06 pm : I played Prey and the part where you go through a portal onto a small stone sphere, and you get shrunk, and gravity gets adjusted for you over that "planet", blew my mind.
Is it an integral part of Prey's engine, or a one-time deal based on mapping hacks? I'd love if I can see more of it in custom missions (I've played Prey for awhile until I got tired, and I only encountered such a thing once).

I think it's just a really large map but I'm not sure at all.
Neurological@Posted: Sat Jul 02, 2011 4:05 pm : Yeah you actually don't get shrunk, but you go on another room, the giant stuff outside is a trick, basicly it use a portalsky to render the room as 3d skybox that enlarge it 16x time, but is only a visual effect it doesn't get bigger for real, you can noclip in the map to see the trick.
NX-317@Posted: Sun Jul 03, 2011 8:42 am : Yes, the shrinking is just a portal sky. Very breathtaking, nevertheless. And the planetary gravity is a part of the engine, you can

Try my map, it has a similar scene, and I did more action than in the original.
