I'm asking because:

- Prey seemed more colourful in general than Doom 3 (more texture variety, mainly)
- There are lots of objects and traps in Prey that appear consistently throughout the game, while Doom 3 relies more on one-time special effects, and has few special gameplay features other than spawning monsters.
- Prey has portals, variable gravity direction and vehicles, which could be used for some interesting maze design.

It would be nice if I could easily remove the regenerating ammo from the first gun, or prevent Tommy from ever being immortal (instead being dead for real when killed, as it happens in the first parts of Prey) -- but still allow him to use his special ability, why not.

Yeah, sadly the Prey modding didn't have anything so big, even if is enjoyable to work with.

I've tried some things in the past with Prey, and yes is possible to remove the "immortality" and have Tommy die, like in the first map before taking the powers. For the ammo regenerating thing I think is possible to change gotta see the script and change some stuff.

I enjoyed designing a map for Prey a lot, because of the great atmosphere and unique features that no other game has.

It is really sad that the game lost its popularity so quickly, it definitely deserves a better fate. I'd gladly play some more custom maps for it.

I think it will be that way if you give item_spiritwalk to the player, but don't specify the deathwalk map in your map def file.

You might also want to try using Dark Radiant for Prey editing. It should be possible to use it with a modified game pack. I know we've re-enabled Quake 4 editing recently.
