What GFX card and driver? I also can't see any shadows which means you got an OpenGL RGB display context and not a RGBA context with an additional stencil buffer.
If the alpha channel is missing then the GUIs don't work. If the stencil buffer is missing then you don't see any shadows.

Are you using the exe compiled from the GPL source ? if so then the problem is that the bink code was removed.
Bink is used to play animations on a lot of ingame stuff but since it was not opensource id had to remove it before they released the source.
It could probably be replaced by the ffmpeg bink code or similar but i havent seen any attempts yet.

I have original steam D3 BFG version, so I dont know how it works. I thought, that steam will automatically download latest patches and fixes. I set graphics on the highest level and game is wonderfull, but this things fucks me up. I dont know, which doors are the right one, where to go, cause all of doors panel are "inaccessible". Same with support ammo boxes, i cant set the right key, cause there are not keyboards to write.

Tr3B@Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:19 pm :
Start the game with a shortcut and the options: +set logfile 2 and pastebin the qconsole.log somewhere.

You should find it at C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base\qconsole.log

Gauny@Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:20 pm :
There is 1 from maybe 100 doors panels, which is OK, only this one. Near soldier is for me common control panel.

Gauny@Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:26 pm :
Unfortunately, probably nothing is there.

Unimportant and unnecessary things work.

I reported my problem on official steam support, I hope so, someone will help me. But Im not alone with this problem, more people are in same situation.

Hmm strange i got a 560gtx which is older and it Works there :?: maybe its a driver bug with the newer series.

jmarshall23@Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 1:17 pm :
That's really awesome :P, I have no idea wtf would cause that, if you figure it out post it on here.

Other steam player:

Monitors/Panels in game are fuzzy
Hello all,
Read through the forums and did not see this problem anywhere. The game has loaded and plays great, except, all the panels that have numbers such as the lockers to get health/ammo, and the monitor screens where I have to put in a number or activate something are all fuzzy. For instance when you are looking at a panel that is not working it looks fuzzy, but the one you need to work with has something on it to read or numbers to punch. All my screens/ monitors are fuzzy. Even when a monitor should show a video of someone talking it appears fuzzy. Anyone seen this before or what I need to do to fix it?

Solution from some player:

Happened to me once at the start of DOOM 3

Check 2 things are you running it at 1920x1080 and 120 FPS cause I changed it to 60 FPS then back to 120 FPS then it worked

People on the Sony Vegas forum have reported issues with the latest version of Nvidia drivers and went back to the previous version. You never said which version you had, so if you have the latest try going back to the previous ones.

Gauny@Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 1:36 pm :
Now Im at work, so I will try it at home. Then I will post there some new information.

Gauny@Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:38 pm :
So I have:

GeForce GTX 650 Ti
version (306.97)

I tried change frame rate on 120, but it didnt help. i have also change fullscreen settings, but i have 1600x900 as the largest, so same, nothing changed.

reckless@Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2013 1:47 am :
latest nvidia driver is 310.90 try with that :) you can get it here.

Gauny@Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2013 8:44 am :
Yes, I got it from now:), but it didnt help:)

I think that the problem is in the 3D view. Now, I did that and monitors were fine!
But I have to reset the game every now and then to play. If I reset the game, the setting is not saved, so the next time I have to start everything again repeated. I do not understand it, because the game is running at maximum detail, smoothly, without lags.

It's just fine, but every time I have to fuck with it, so then it went fine.

Thank you all for your efforts, but I just have bad luck, it will not be better.

If it refuses to save settings then you probably need to have admin priviledges. In standard non steam bfg you can do that by rightclicking the shortcut and selecting run as admin but im not sure how to do that with steam ? maybe someone here has an answer.
You could possibly start steam that way and the setting should carry over to whatever game you want to play.
